Bob Smith has forged a lasting legacy as a player, coach, and contributor in Frederick County. During his standout years at Middletown High School, he helped propel the team to the 1987 MPSSAA Class B state final, earning All-County and All-MVAL honors. Bob’s soccer journey continued at Frostburg State College and Frederick Community College, marked by two Maryland tournament titles with Petit and Griffin Maryland AAU U19 and appearances at the AAU/USA U19 National Championships in 1988 and 1989. In his adult playing career, he featured prominently with Middletown’s Mason-Dixon League team (1989-1997) and Bushwaller’s (1998-2004). Bob’s coaching tenure spans more than 30 years, guiding teams to the US Youth Soccer regional tournament. However, his greatest impact lies in his role as a contributor, steering FC Frederick through mergers and transitions since its inception in 2004. He has been on the club’s Board of Directors since the club’s inception. Simultaneously, as Deputy Director of Parks and Recreation for Frederick County, Bob’s commitment to creating soccer facilities has been instrumental in fostering the sport’s growth in the community.
