Dan Mulcahy’s soccer journey spans four decades where he has been an elite player and highly successful coach. After starting his youth playing career for Frederick Excel, where he was selected for the Maryland and Region I ODP teams, he transitioned to the highly competitive Free State Blazers and later Potomac SC. While at Urbana High School, Dan, a goalkeeper, compiled a 37-27-5 record with 24 shutouts and a 1.11 career GAA. He helped the team to a region title in 2000 and a region runner-up finish in 2011. He earned NSCAA All-America honors in 2001 while becoming the only boys soccer Maryland Gatorade Player of the Year in Frederick County history. He was a team captain for the 2005 and 2006 seasons while playing collegiately at NCAA Division I Loyola College in Baltimore. As a coach, he founded the Oakdale High School program in 2010 and guided the
program to back-to-back state titles in 2014 and 2015. He was named MACS Small Schools (2A/1A) Coach of the Year in 2014. He stepped down as high school coach in 2016, but starting in 2018 and to the present as served as a coach in the FC Frederick program.
