Mace DeOrsey had the winning touch everywhere he played. During a four-year high school career, DeOrsey was part of a Middletown program that went 53-3-3, 36-0 in the MVAL and never lost to a Frederick County opponent. DeOrsey scored a school-record 65 goals and assisted on 35 during his Middletown career. At the same time, he played for club power Potomac Alliance, which won three straight State Cup titles (1992, 1993, 1994) and one US Youth Soccer region tide (1993).
He was an ODP performer from U14 through Ul9 (1991-1995). In college, he started every match for NCAA Division III power Virginia Wesleyan his freshman year as the team won the Old Dominion Athletic Conference title. He then transferred to Towson University, where he started 41 of his 49 appearances in three seasons and led the America East in assists his senior season. DeOrsey played one season with the Delaware Wi:zards in the USL and two preseasons with the MISL Baltimore Blase
