Katie Roberts-Chapman

Katie Roberts is one of the most decorated players to hail from Frederick County. During a stellar college career at NCAA Division II Francis Marion University, Katie was inducted into the university’s athletic Hall of Fame in 2017. Katie was a four-year starter and two-time NCAA Division II All-America selection, as well as a two-time Academic All-America selection. She graduated as Francis Marion’s all-time leader in goals (61) and assists (43). She delivered two five-goal performances during her college career. She also holds the university records for matches played and started (73). During her high school days at Thomas Johnson, Katie was a key performer in the Patriots’ strong late-1990s showing. The three-year starter was part of a 50-6-2 run from 1997-1999 with the Patriots, which included three county titles, two regional titles, and one state title (1997). She recorded 37 career goals and 17 assists, and she remains among the top three scorers in program history. She coached high school soccer in Montgomery County, first as a JV coach at Winston Churchill and later as head coach at Damascus High School from 2009-2013, where her 2013 team went 17-1 and reached the state semifinals.
