For most of the past 40 years, Brian Barkdoll has been a fixture on the Frederick County soccer scene - first as a team manager, then as a player, and most recently as a coach. While he was a member of Middletown's varsity, the team compiled a 34-6-2 record, which included a state runner-up finish in 1987. Barkdoll received all-MVAL and all-county honors. He earned JuCo All-Region XX honors at Frederick Community College in 1988. He played for Petit and Griffin Maryland MU Ul 9, which made national tournament appearances in 1988 and 1989.
His coaching career started with Middletown Valley Athletic Association while Barkdoll was in high school. He was head coach of Petit and Griffin Maryland MU U16 in 1989 and guided the team to a state title and a berth in the MU USA Junior Olympic Championships in San Antonio, Texas. His coaching career included stops at Middletown High School UV and varsity assistant), Seneca Power, Braddock Soccer Club, Maryland ODP and Frederick Excel. Since 2013, he has been an assistant coach in the FC Frederick program.
